NAPA RIVER FLOOD CONTROL

This project is a unique endeavor that stands alone throughout the country, in flood control and conservation efforts. Environmentally friendly “living river” concept, developed primarily by Napa Flood District in conjunction with many civic organizations, restores and enhances the natural aspects of the river while at the same time providing flood protection for the surrounding communities. Protecting the wildlife, increasing marshes and the beauty of the river were given as much consideration as the human inhabitants in this $255M flood projection project. As a result, a hundred year flood protection system that will be non-invasive to the natural environment is providing bird sanctuaries that previously did not exist.

Under various contracts, Chaudhary & Associates has provided a variety of services including mapping and design surveys for two bridges, right-of-way engineering for Phase 1, and design surveys for various elements of Phase 2.

Napa River Flood Control Project Right-of-way Engineering, Bridge Design and Construction Management. Chaudhary & Associates, Inc. prepared Right-of-Way Mapping and legal descriptions for the acquisition of properties required for Phase I of the Napa Flood Control Project. Work included: Property records research, establishment of project control, property surveys, appraisal maps, legal descriptions, and Record-of-Survey maps. This project required multi-agency coordination with the Army Corps of Engineers, the Napa County Flood Control and Water Conservation District, The City of Napa, and the project right-of-way agent. Acquisition parcels included areas for marsh plain terraces, flood plain terraces, levees, and railroad, trunk sewer, and other utility relocations plus temporary construction easements.
	Chaudhary & Associates, Inc. also provided surveys and design of flood control levees and banks at 4 sites along Napa River and 5 sites along Redwood Creek in Napa County and construction management for railroad, trunk sewer, and other utility relocations for the flood control project along the Napa Creek and Napa River.
Chaudhary & Associates’ Construction Managers worked with Caltrans on the New Eastern Span (Skyway Section) of the SFO Bay Bridge. Work included claims mitigation, contract change order development, and welding inspection services.
