As the Civil Design/Builder engineer, Chaudhary & Associates designed the 10 acre County campus that holds the County Courthouse, the existing Health and Social Service Building and the new 58,000 SQSF health clinic. The health clinic receives the LEED Silver certification for its green building standards achieved for new construction. The civil site work included converting Virginia Street from two-way to one-way, various street parking modifications and a mid-block crossing, using solar pedestrian flashers (see below, right). To achieve the sustainable site LEED scoring, the pre-development runoff had to be equal to or less than the post-development flows. C&A accomplished this with roof drain and parking lot storm flows diverted through the new bioswale filters (below, left). All the facility was designed to ADA standards. C&A prepared all the easement legal plats and descriptions for PG&E primary utilities, City water lines, and Sewer District storm drain lines. Total project cost $25 million.
